Dr. Amir Ali Majid, Scientific Council
 

Honorable Majid has published a law book and 35 articles in British, German, Dutch and American learned journals, as well as 50 journalistic items. Honorable Majid was the first blind person in the world to be a barrister and DCL (Dr. of Civil Law). Honorable Majid holds a BA (Punjab), LLB Hons-LLM (London) DASL, Dip in Air & Spc Law (London Institute of World Affairs), DASL-Dr. of Civil Law (McGill), FRSA, Barrister (Lincoln's Inn), and is a member of the Higher Education Academy. Dr. Majid is also a reader in International Law, London Metropolitan University; Practising Barrister; part-time Immigration Judge Adjunct Professor in Law, Webster University of USA ; External Examiner of the Boards of Examiners: University College London, Cert. n Air & Space Law University of London, Dip. in Air & Space Law University of London, LLM University of London, Dip. in Int'l Law.

Furthermore, Honorable Majid was an erasmus Lecturer, 2003, Frankfurt, Germany; 4 times Guest Lecturer at the National Defence college, Islamabad; 3 times Guest Lecturer at the Institute of Strategic Studies, Islamabad; 2 times Guest Lecturer, Pak Institute of International Affairs, Karachi. Dr. Majid has published a law book and 35 articles in British, German, Dutch and American learned journals, as well as 50 journalistic items.

Marks of Distinction

The first blind person in the world to be a barrister and DCL (Dr. of Civil Law). The first Asian in the UK to be the:-

  • Secretary, National Federation of the Blind of the UK (London Branch) (comprising 25% members of this British blind activist federation)
  • Member of the Air Transport Committee of the UK International Chambers of Commerce (inter alia advising the Aviation Minister)
  • Chairman of the Bar-at-Law Board of Studies (LGU, 1989-93)
  • Chairman, Transport Policy Group of the Greater London Association of Disabled People (1993-1995; promoting transport needs of 60 thousand disabled Londoners

Recent Achievements

  • Member of the Higher Education Academy (spring 2004); granted in recognition of experience as a "good teacher" usually Postgraduate Diploma in Education is required.
  • Editor-in-Chief (spring 2004) Journal of Islamic State Practice in International Law (an online journal), in addition to be a member since 1991 of the Editorial Board, Greater London Action on Disability (advising on legal aspects of four periodicals).
  • Member of the Discrimination Law Association (DLA) Working Party which prepared the response Dated 23 Jun 2004 to the Government's White Paper "Fairness for All" on the establishment of a single Commission for Equality and Human Rights
    Member (2005-), Working Group on "Disability equality and judicial appointment" chaired by UK DCA Minister
  • "Guest of Inspiration" in the meeting on 12 April 2006 of the British Home Office Disability Service in London, attended by 200 executives including the Minister for Disabled People.
