Professor Donald P. Harris teaches courses intellectual property, international intellectual property and commercial law. Professor Harris earned his JD in 1994 from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, where he received the dean’s award for outstanding public service and the pro bono service award.
Following law school, Prof. Harris remained in California, working in law firms in Los Angeles and San Francisco, specializing in patent litigation and prosecution. He attended University of Wisconsin Law School on a William H. Hastie Fellowship, and received an LL.M. in May, 2003.
Prof. Harris’ current research focuses on international intellectual property and the advantages and harms caused by globalization of intellectual property rights. He has also written in the area of employment law and professional responsibility. His publications include TRIPS’ Rebound: An Historical Analysis of How the TRIPS Agreement Can Ricochet Back Against the United States, 25 Nw.J. Int’l L. & Bus. 99 (2004); Let’s Make Lawyers Happy: Advocating Mandatory Pro Bono, 19 NORTHERN ILLINOIS L.
