Jean-Luc Chatelain is the WW ILM CTO for HP StorageWorks division. Chatelain joined HP at the time of acquisition of PERSIST Technologies, where he was Founder and CTO, a world leader in grid storage & archiving solutions which technology is the basis of the HP ILM Reference Information Storage System RISS.
Chatelain helps craft the overall ILM strategy for HP through customer interaction and by serving as an ILM ambassador to the other constituencies of HP such as IPG & HP Labs. Its evangelization function involves numerous WW speaking engagements to
both educate customers, analysts and press; and promote HP’s holistic approach to information assets management.
Chatelain earned his degree in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering in Paris, France. He is bilingual in French and English, completing additional studies in Russian and classical Greek. Formerly, he was the CTO and Senior Vice President of Strategic Corporate Development for ZANTAZ, a leading service provider of information archiving solutions for the financial industry. There, he played an instrumental role in the development of the company’s services and raised millions of dollars in capital for international expansion.
An expert in the design and development of high-performance enterprise storage & archiving, processing and workflow imaging systems for the healthcare, biometrics and defense industries, Chatelain has also held key technology management positions at organizations such as Kodak Health Imaging, ADAC Labs/Nuclear Medical Division and Digital Design.
Chatelain is recognized in the industry for his visionary developments, which include the Smart Cell technology and advanced PACS architecture. He designed a breakthrough enterprise workflow strategy and technology that vaulted Cemax-Icon to the number two position in the medical imaging distribution market. The technology drove corporate revenue growth by more than 50 percent annually, resulting in acquisition by Imation Corp. and, subsequently, Eastman-Kodak.
